The name “LAN parties,” actually stands for local area network parties. Teens who go to them need a couple of basic tools: their own computers with network interface cards, a hub to connect them, and a bundle of Ethernet cables. These computer-focused slumber parties last as long as 24 to 36 hours, with the young — mostly male — partygoers sometimes yelling such entreaties as
